DIP-Switch

A DIP-switch assembly provides manually selectable contact states. The board can read them as configuration choices; the switch itself does not define the meaning of each setting.

Operating a slide or piano actuator changes its contact connection and leaves it in the selected position. Rotary coded versions have their own contact patterns. Use the exact terminal diagram rather than assuming every DIP-switch assembly has the same internal connections.

In plain terms

A row of tiny settings levers. Each position records a choice that the surrounding circuit interprets.

A short history

DIP switches are a family of small configuration controls rather than one universal mechanism. Omron's precautions distinguish actuator styles, contact ratings, assembly processes and cleaning restrictions. Select the exact product and its connection diagram before designing the board.
